Congrats to Memphis - Oops, Make that the Kansas Jayhawks.  Coming back from 9 down with just over two minutes to play made for a classic championship finish.  Memphis played a great tournament, but their Achilles heel, poor free throw shooting, which had been fine in the previous 5 and 3/4 games, finally reared its head in the final minutes of the championship.  Then Mario Chalmers buzzer beating 3 sent the game to OT.  It was a fitting end to a season where it seemed like a few very strong teams were a notch above the rest and that's basically how the tournament played out.

Congrats also go to  McLovin' whose bracket won the FATBar Bracket Challenge.  He'll get an open bar for 100 friends provided by Town Tavern/Whistlin Dixies - if he can get them to accept that ridiculous fake ID.

Superhawkattack scored our second place prize of a $25 gift certificate kindly provided by The Shannon.

As for the FATBar guru, let's just say sometimes watching too many games can be a detriment to bracket picking.

Already this offseason we've seen some notable moves including Coach Tom Crean leaving Marquette to take the Indiana job.  Meanwhile he'll be without PG Eric Gordon who is heading to the NBA after one year.  Super freshman Michael Beasley is also off to the pros, as well as Memphis exciting freshman PG Derrick Rose, USC's OJ Mayo and Kansas's Brandon Rush.  Memphis spent no time reloading though, landing Tyreke Evans, MVP of the McDonald's All-America game who will likely step right into Rose's shoes as point guard.

That about wraps up this fun 07-08 season, we'll bring you more news occasionally over the off-season and look forward to writing our season preview the next time we see frost on the ground.

Have a great summer,
