NBA

The disaster that is the NBA season is finally over. The Knicks can stop pretending they care, Isiah gets a swift kick in the ass and the VC and the Nets get to set up tee time.

For the 16 teams that actually know how to put the ball in the hoop more consistently then everyone else, there are some very intriguing matchups over the next month.

Let's start with the East.

Celtics vs. Hawks

Sweep.

Wizards vs. Cavs

This will be the 3rd straight year that these two teams have met in the playoffs with the Cavs prevailing in the last two. The Wizards are healthy and looking for revenge. Dashawn Stevenson thinks LeBron is overrated, LeBron could care less. The results of this series come down to 1 thing, can LeBron win with this cast of characters? Answer, no chance. The Cavs went 8-14 since their big trade and look like a 1 man show day in and day out. Ben Wallace looks like a geriatric 60 year old trying to play D. Look for the Wiz and their Big 3 to score early and often and send the Cavs home without another trip to the Finals.

Every other series in the East will be won by the favorite. On to the West.

Spurs vs. Suns

Without a doubt the most intriguing series out West, especially after last years battle in the Conference Finals. The Suns traded for Shaq for one reason, to defend Tim Duncan in the post season. That is unfortuante because he can't do it, Shaq is 67 years old, at least, and well past his prime. The same may be true for The Big Fundamamental but it doesn't matter, he has the mad Argentinian on his team. Look for Manu to go buckwild and light the Suns porous D up. Prediction, Spurs in 6.

Lakers vs. Nuggets

The Nuggets average about 200-220 points a game. The only problem is that they give up about 250. This team of me first shooters and guys who shoot 30% from 3 but take them anyway; A.I., Melo, J.R. Smith, has a lot of work ahead of them if they are going to knock off the 1 seed in the West. Kobe has his best supporting case since Shaq and Big Shot Bob and looks as focused as ever. If Bynum returns and Pao plays anything like he did after L.A. hijacked him from Memphis these Staple Center denizens might be unstoppable. This one should be over in 5.
